【Caixin Global】 As smart wearable devices rapidly become popular, related data security risks are drawing the attention of regulators. On April 1, the Ministry of State Security issued a post via its official social media channels to warn that devices such as smart watches and smart bands, while making everyday life more convenient, could also become important entry points for the leakage of sensitive information, requiring the entire society to remain vigilant.

An important regulatory trend reflected by such warnings is that data security governance is expanding from traditional internet platforms to endpoint devices and the edge data layer. As the integration of artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things deepens, endpoint devices are no longer only tools for information collection; they are gradually becoming key nodes for data production and circulation, and their security boundaries likewise need to move accordingly.
