Investing.com – Stellantis NV (NYSE:STLA) (BIT:STLAM) reported a steep loss for the second half of 2025 after booking sizable charges tied to a reset of its electric-vehicle (EV) strategy. The automaker posted a net loss of €20.1 billion for the July–December period, after earlier flagging €22.2 billion in charges for the half.
Adjusted operating income (AOI) was negative €1.38 billion in the period. Both figures fell within the preliminary ranges the company had outlined earlier this month. Net revenues during the period rose 10%.
The owner of Jeep and Peugeot recorded €25.4 billion of writedowns during 2025, which led to the results “reflecting the cost of over-estimating the pace of the energy transition," Chief Executive Antonio Filosa said.
The impairments were also linked to vehicle quality issues that Filosa attributed to cost-cutting under former chief Carlos Tavares. The writedowns include roughly €6.5 billion of cash outflows expected to be spread over four years starting in 2026.
Stellantis reiterated its 2026 outlook, guiding to a mid-single-digit percentage rise in net revenues and a low-single-digit adjusted operating margin. The group expects industrial free cash flow to turn positive only in 2027.
“In 2026 our focus will be on continuing to close the execution gaps of the past, adding further momentum to our return to profitable growth,” Filosa said.
The company also confirmed it will not pay a dividend this year.
For the full year, Stellantis reported a net loss of €22.3 billion for 2025. Adjusted operating loss came to €842 million, compared with a profit of €8.65 billion in 2024, leaving the adjusted operating margin at negative 0.5%.
Annual sales declined 2% to €153.51 billion, pressured by currency effects and price declines in the first half of the year.
