GUSD is more than just a settlement-focused stablecoin; it’s better described as an on-chain USD certificate. Gate channels interest streams generated by real-world assets (RWAs), such as U.S. Treasuries, to users in the form of a digital certificate. While holding GUSD, users accumulate returns, which are settled as a lump sum of both principal and interest when redeemed. This design brings on-chain cash management closer to the operational logic of traditional notes or bonds.
To use GUSD, Gate offers two streamlined options:
Once minted, GUSD can be used as trading collateral. You can also use it to participate in various trading pairs and ecosystem products, serving both your trading and asset allocation needs.
GUSD yields come from interest on underlying RWAs, like U.S. Treasuries—not from daily compound distributions as with savings accounts. You accrue interest throughout the holding period and receive it in full when you redeem your GUSD. For example, minting GUSD with 100 USDT and accruing a 20% return by redemption means you’ll receive the principal plus interest, equal to 120 USDC. This structure makes GUSD functionally similar to financial products in which returns are determined by the holding period. In addition, Gate offers GUSD-based flexible yield products, allowing idle funds to generate rolling returns with greater flexibility.
To increase engagement, Gate has also launched a GUSD staking pool. Stakers not only earn underlying yield but also share in platform token rewards. During special promotions, yields may increase with added incentives (refer to official announcements for details). Gate plans to further integrate GUSD with lending, airdrops, Launchpool, and additional ecosystem features—establishing a dual engine of stable yield and community incentives.
Most stablecoins serve primarily for payments and asset transfers, prioritizing price stability. GUSD, by contrast, builds time into its value proposition: the longer you hold, the more interest from underlying assets accrues, resulting in a single interest payout at redemption. Thus, GUSD combines stability in valuation with bond-like appreciation, making it suitable for users seeking both liquidity and yield exposure in their USD-denominated holdings.
Gate plans to gradually expand GUSD’s scale and disclose proof of reserves and custody relationships, so users can independently verify its asset backing. GUSD is redeemable for USDC at a 1:1 rate, and users can also convert it to USDT or other assets, ensuring flexible redemption and cash management.
These features make GUSD highly competitive in both utility and scalability.

GUSD merges the stability of the US dollar with on-chain yield, offering a liquid, value-adding option for users seeking to allocate USD assets within crypto. As trading, lending, staking, and ecosystem opportunities mature, GUSD could become a core tool for on-chain treasury management. At the same time, sustained market confidence will hinge on transparent reserve disclosures and robust risk controls.
