All disruptive technology follows a similar growth pattern: at first, only innovators and pioneers join. Then come the visionaries. Later, the pragmatists. Finally, the skeptics and laggards. This curve is known as the "S-curve of adoption."
Bitcoin is still in the lower half of that curve. If we compare it to the adoption of the internet, we could say that we are in the 90s: the potential is clear, but most still do not understand it or take it seriously.
