just came across this wild ranking of the richest president in the world and honestly the numbers don't add up in my head. apparently vladimir putin is sitting on like 70 billion which makes sense given how things work over there but then you see donald trump listed at 5.3 billion and it gets weird. like the gap between #1 and #2 is absolutely massive.

what caught my attention is how many of these fortunes are tied to their positions. some of these guys inherited wealth, some built business empires before taking office, and some... well let's just say the accounting gets creative when you control the country's resources. brunei's hassanal bolkiah at 1.4 billion from running what's essentially a family business with oil money. that's a different vibe than someone like macron at 500 million.

the whole list makes you think about what "wealth" actually means for world leaders. are we talking liquid assets, property holdings, state assets they technically control but don't personally own? because that changes everything. the richest president in the world might not actually be the one with the most accessible cash.

what's interesting is seeing how many of these fortunes come from either inherited power, business before politics, or... the kind of wealth that's hard to fully track. puts a different spin on global influence when you realize how much money is involved at that level. makes you wonder what the actual numbers would be if we could see everything.
