Many people start exercising,

not to enjoy the pleasure that comes with it,
but because "not moving will cause guilt";
cutting down on sugar, not because they truly feel the burden that refined sugar places on the body,
but because "everyone is resisting sugar, if I don't resist, I am unhealthy."
This kind of self-discipline,
is essentially an anxiety transfer,
and not truly driven by health awareness.
