So you've been mining Pi and now you're wondering when you can actually move your coins? That's where KYC comes in. I've been seeing a lot of people confused about the verification process, so let me break down what Pi Network KYC actually involves and how to get through it smoothly.
Basically, Pi uses this identity verification system to make sure you're legit before you can transfer or withdraw anything. It's pretty standard stuff - they need your full legal name, a government ID, a live selfie, and confirmation that everything matches your Pi account. Nothing too crazy.
Here's what the actual process looks like:
First thing is you gotta wait for the invitation. Pi Network doesn't just let everyone do KYC at once - they roll it out in batches. You'll see a notification pop up in your Pi app saying you're selected. If nothing shows up yet, keep checking the Mainnet Checklist section in the app. Patience is key here.
Once you get selected, you need to grab the Pi KYC app. Head over to Pi Browser (you can find it on Google Play or the App Store), log in with your account, and launch the KYC app from there. Pretty straightforward.
Before you start the actual KYC verification, get your documents ready. You'll need a valid government-issued ID - could be a CNIC, passport, driving license, whatever you have. Just make sure the name on it matches exactly with your Pi account, it's clear and readable, and it's not expired. Seriously, mismatches will slow things down.
Then you're filling in your personal info. Enter your full legal name exactly as it appears on your ID, add your date of birth, country, and ID number. No shortcuts here - it all needs to be accurate.
Next up is uploading photos of your ID. Take clear shots of both the front and back. Make sure there's no glare, shadows, or blur that might mess up the verification. Good lighting makes a huge difference.
The facial recognition part is where it gets a bit interactive. They'll have you take a live selfie using your phone camera. You'll need to follow some instructions - look left, right, blink, that kind of thing. Make sure you're somewhere well-lit so the camera can actually see your face clearly.
Once you've got everything in, review it one more time before hitting submit. After you submit, your KYC goes through both AI and human verification. This can take anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days depending on how backed up they are.
You'll get a notification in your Pi app once it's approved. After that clears, your mined Pi is finally eligible for Mainnet transfer. That's when things get real.
The whole KYC process for Pi Network is pretty important if you actually want to use your coins. Just be patient with the batch invitations, make sure your documents are clean and match your account, and you should be good to go.
