Venus Protocol users lost $13.5 million due to suspected fraud on the BNB Chain.

A user of Venus Protocol lost 13.5 million USD due to suspected phishing fraud on the native currency market of BNB Chain.

According to a warning from PeckShield Security, the victim accidentally approved a malicious transaction, granting token usage rights to the attacker's address (0x7fd8…202a), facilitating the transfer of assets.

Initially, PeckShield reported the loss amount to be 27 million USD, but later adjusted it down to about 13.5 million USD because the initial estimate did not exclude the attacker’s debt. The stolen assets are still in the hacker's wallet, not converted to other tokens or cashed out.

Venus Protocol has also confirmed the incident: "The user was attacked, the smart contract is safe." According to the announcement, Venus is temporarily halting operations as part of a security process and will continue to update the community. The protocol asserts that Venus was not exploited, but rather a user became a victim of phishing, while the smart contract remains safe.
