New York judge rejects SEC's request for a mandatory pretrial conference in the lawsuit against Justin Sun.
BlockBeats News, on August 24th, according to Coindesk, a judge in New York rejected the US Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) request to hold a pretrial conference or require additional response in the securities fraud lawsuit against Tron Foundation and its founder Justin Sun. In a letter submitted to the court on August 12th, the SEC accused the defense of attempting to secretly introduce new arguments, namely that the sale of TRX and BTT does not meet the 'common enterprise' standard of the Howey test. In response, Tron's lawyers countered the SEC's letter, writing a letter to Judge Edgardo Ramos of the Southern District of New York, accusing the SEC of 'attempting to create controversy' and urging the court to reject the SEC's request for a pretrial conference. The judge ultimately sided with Tron's lawyers and rejected the SEC's request.
