Based on current data, approximately 157 long-inactive wallets reawakened in August, collectively dispersing about 9,062.74 BTC over the month worth close to $1 billion.

$981M in Bitcoin Emerges From Hibernation

Btcparser.com data shows that roughly $981.76 million in bitcoin (BTC) shifted out of 157 separate P2PKH (Pay-to-Public-Key-Hash) addresses established between 2011 and 2017, while no wallets originating from 2009 or 2010 stirred during the past month.

The oldest in the group, two wallets from 2011, transferred roughly 105.51 BTC in total—one originating in May 2011 and the other in August 2011. It’s worth noting that none of these wallets had transferred any BTC outbound since the day they were originally created.

While 2011 carries age, 2012 also marks an early adopter era, with 25 separate wallets moving a combined 2,310.50 BTC in August 2025. In addition, 29 wallets originating in 2013 moved a total of 1,074.98 BTC, while 19 separate transfers from 2014 addresses accounted for another 373.37 BTC spent during the month.

Wallets established in 2015 moved the largest portion, dispersing 3,122.69814336 BTC across 36 addresses, with many of them traced back to November 2015. About 707.62 BTC linked to wallets created in 2016 was spent across 16 separate transactions.

Activity from 2017 wallets stood out, amounting to 1,368.03659445 BTC across 30 addresses, with several 100 BTC transfers among them. In contrast, older wallets from 2011–2014 accounted for smaller totals, though notable individual spends included 306 BTC from a 2013 wallet and 65.51 BTC from a 2011 wallet.

Transactions from 2010 remain exceedingly rare in 2025, with only nine observed so far this year. Although none appeared this month from the earliest years like 2009 and 2010, the coins that did shift remain fairly aged, spanning between eight and 14 years old.
