The status of the "Government Efficiency Department" is in question, with the trillion-dollar reduction target only achieving about 21%.
According to Deep Tide TechFlow news, on November 25, as reported by Caixin, with 8 months remaining until the deadline set by the executive order, the current status and working methods of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), previously led by billionaire Musk, are now in question. This is the most prominent cost-cutting project during President Trump's second term, and it no longer exists at least as a “centralized entity.”
On November 23 local time, Reuters exclusively reported that Scott Kupor, director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), stated in an interview earlier in November that the Efficiency Department of the government has “ceased to exist” and added that it is no longer a “centralized entity.” Most of the agency's functions will be transferred to the Office of Personnel Management.
However, the U.S. Department of Efficiency (DOGE) posted on the X platform this morning, stating that the report by Reuters regarding its dissolution is fake news. The department will resume its routine updates on Friday in a few days.
