Polkadot will launch elastic scaling through the 1721 referendum.
According to Foresight News, Polkadot World reported that Polkadot passed the 1721 referendum last night, officially entering the 2.0 era. This referendum marks the end of the parachain slot auction narrative and aims to address the high barrier issues present in version 1.0, including the cancellation of slot auctions, compatibility with the EVM environment, and enhancing Liquidity. The new elastic scaling model will replace the slot auctions, providing developers with a more flexible entry method. The growth plan for Polkadot Hub is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2026, at which point the inflation of DOT will drop to 3.1%.
