On October 17, according to Cointelegraph, on Thursday, as the price of gold soared to a new historical high of $4,357 per ounce, its market capitalization reached a record of $30 trillion. This means that the market capitalization of gold is now 14.5 times that of Bitcoin's approximately $2.1 trillion market capitalization. It is also 1.5 times higher than the total market capitalization of the global “seven giants” technology companies—NVIDIA, Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and TSL (approximately $20 trillion). Due to the depreciation of the dollar, geopolitical tensions, and trade tariff issues, investors have flocked to gold, with the price of gold soaring 64% since January 1. Many analysts believe that when the gold market cools, capital will shift to Bitcoin, which is commonly referred to as digital gold.
