In St. Petersburg, Bitcoin miners caused damage of 8 million rubles

The police of Saint Petersburg discovered 58 ASIC miners illegally connected to a substation on the premises of one of the enterprises. The farm occupied several hundred square meters.

During the inspection of the premises, it was found that electricity was used for the entire facility through the distribution board, including mining equipment and the ventilation system, bypassing the metering devices.

According to this fact, representatives of the energy company have drawn up the corresponding inspection reports. The preliminary amount of damage is 8 million rubles.

Equipment seized, additional checks are being conducted and efforts are underway to find the owners of the farm to initiate a criminal case.

Let us remind you that the basic regulation of cryptocurrency mining in the Russian Federation was adopted in July 2024. Its impact on the industry was analyzed by ForkLog in a separate article.

Soon, mining has been banned in a number of regions of the Russian Federation until March 15, 2031, due to significant pressure on local energy systems.
