Dogecoin Co-Founder Weighs In on True Bitcoin Creator's Identity

Even Billy Marcus, the co-creator of Dogecoin, has shared his thoughts on the real identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin's enigmatic founder. Like many others, Marcus firmly rejects the notion put forth by the recent HBO documentary.

Dogecoin's Billy Marcus Refutes HBO's Bitcoin Creator Revelation

Billy Marcus, who co-founded Dogecoin, has expressed strong disagreement with the HBO documentary's claim about the true identity of Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.

In a concise statement, Marcus declared: "It's not Peter Todd, dude."

This week, the cryptocurrency community's attention was captured by Cullen Hoback's documentary, which proposed that Satoshi Nakamoto is, in fact, Peter Todd. For many, including Marcus, this revelation was met with significant skepticism.

Elaborating on his stance, Marcus added: "[Todd] is one of the most OG developers, but not the creator."

It appears that the crypto community is largely dismissing the HBO documentary's hypothesis, viewing it as riddled with inconsistencies.

Many argue that the presented evidence, rather than supporting the theory that Peter Todd is the real Satoshi Nakamoto, merely offers speculative connections and assumptions.

Thus, even the Dogecoin co-founder has aligned himself with those who are unconvinced by the documentary's claims.

Dogecoin's Billy Marcus Shares His Take on Bitcoin Creator's True Identity

In a series of tweets discussing Satoshi Nakamoto, when asked about his personal belief regarding the true identity, the Dogecoin co-founder didn't hesitate to share his perspective.

"If you had to guess, who would it be?"

Marcus responded: "Hal Finney and friends"

According to Marcus of Dogecoin, the actual creator of Bitcoin is likely a collective: Hal Finney and associates.

This isn't the first time Satoshi Nakamoto has been linked to Hal Finney. Unfortunately, this theory cannot be confirmed, as the renowned software developer is no longer with us.

Last August marked a decade since the passing of Hal Finney, remembered in the cryptocurrency community as the individual behind the first peer-to-peer transaction ever conducted on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Specifically, a total of 10 BTC was transferred from Satoshi Nakamoto's address to Finney's, presumably as a test transaction.

A Minor Dip in BTC Price

While reactions to the HBO documentary have been predominantly negative, Bitcoin's price has also seen a slight decline in the past 24 hours.

At the time of writing, BTC was valued at $60,945, representing a 2.45% decrease over the last day.

One might wonder if this price dip reflects cryptocurrency investors' disappointment regarding the purported revelation of Satoshi Nakamoto's identity.

Conversely, earlier this week, BTC had surpassed $64,000. The price surge over the previous weekend sparked speculation that Asian markets were driving Bitcoin's upward momentum.
