Retail investors are leaving in large numbers, which is a true reflection of this year's market situation. But is the problem really with the crypto assets themselves?

Recently, I discussed this topic with my family and discovered some interesting phenomena. My younger brother just came back from vacation; he's only 22 years old and has his own views on the market. We were talking about why, in a year when the stock market is so hot, the crypto market remains sluggish. He suddenly said, "Cryptocurrency is no longer cool."

That statement was a bit shocking to me. He continued to explain, "Predictive markets and stocks are more attractive, after all, you don't have to worry all day about being wiped out or scammed."

Thinking carefully, his observation hit the nail on the head. I reflected and realized that the problem isn't fundamentally about technicals or fundamentals—it's something deeper. This is a cultural shift, a large-scale migration of market attention.

The data makes it very clear. All content related to cryptocurrencies on YouTube is experiencing a decline in views. A crypto content creator with 139,000 followers bluntly stated that the recent two-week drop in views is the most severe in his five years of experience.

Another phenomenon worth noting is the decline in influence of top crypto KOLs. Those voices that once caused market buzz now have noticeably less appeal. In simple terms, the market's attention resources are shifting from this track to other areas.

This is not just a market cycle issue; it resembles a shift in social psychology. When retail investors start to feel that a market is "not cool," the entire ecosystem's attractiveness will undergo a fundamental change.

Your brother's point is really spot on; the phrase "not cool anymore" hits the core. That being said, compared to technical fundamentals, if the community's morale is dispersed, it's hard to lead the team... that's the most frightening part. Wait, is the weakening influence of those KOLs because there's no longer a consensus, or is it really that there are no new stories to tell? Honestly, the entire crypto community is just like the stock market aunties back in the day—once the hype fades, everything disperses. In my opinion, the real test begins now.

Your younger brother is right, no one really takes crypto seriously anymore. The shadow of being hacked and跑路 still lingers, who dares to mess around? The drop in YouTube views is really harsh, indicating everyone has dispersed. Now even the KOLs are complaining but no one is listening, it feels like the entire circle has withered. Rather than saying there's a technical problem, it's more about psychological abandonment. This wave is truly a cultural shift, with money now flowing into stock trading and market prediction. At 22, you can see through this, showing that young people have already turned back. Crypto itself isn't the problem; the issue is that no one believes it can still innovate.

Your younger brother is not wrong, but is "not cool" really the whole reason? I think it's just a matter of risk tolerance being disguised as a matter of taste.

Your brother's words actually hit the nail on the head, but to be honest, the reason of "not cool" is a bit far-fetched; mainly, it's probably just fear of being cut off. A market that relies solely on KOL hype to survive is fundamentally problematic. This wave might indeed be a cycle, but more likely it's the aftereffect of a trust collapse. Retail investors feel it's no longer safe, and no amount of hype will help anymore.

Not cool anymore? Haha, that’s quite harsh. But I think it’s not entirely the case; mainly, people are just afraid of getting cut. Your brother is right, a sense of security is indeed important. But the term "not cool"... feels a bit shallow. The real issue is the trust has collapsed. It’s not that it’s not cool, it’s that people are genuinely scared. A decline in viewership is normal; the hype cycle has come and gone, and now it’s just hitting the bottom. Influence of KOLs weakening? Those guys should have cooled down long ago. Constantly shouting buy signals is exhausting. Honestly, it’s still about people’s mindset changing. This downturn was really hurtful. It feels like everyone is now playing the prediction market, which is definitely "safer" than the crypto circle haha. But history always repeats itself; when it’s cold, it will heat up again. The key is to stay alive until that day.

Your younger brother is right. Who still worries daily about their wallet now? After being hacked a few times, I realize that dollar-cost averaging into index funds is still the best.
