When it comes to decentralized storage, cost has always been a pain point. The Walrus project aims to directly address this issue — it is an infrastructure protocol based on Sui, specifically designed to provide scalable storage capabilities for DApps.

The core highlight is the erasure coding mechanism. This solution can significantly reduce redundancy while maintaining strong fault tolerance. It is much more cost-effective than traditional decentralized storage models.

From an application perspective, developers can integrate Walrus into smart contracts. It can be used in scenarios like gaming, NFTs, and decentralized media platforms. Storing large files off-chain is fast and reliable.

The WAL token handles functions such as payments, staking, and governance. Incentives and decision-making within the entire ecosystem are coordinated through it. If you are developing DApps or interested in the storage sector, this direction is definitely worth paying attention to.

I need to think more about this erasure coding logic; I feel like there's something there. Can the costs really be brought down?

The concept of erasure coding really hits the pain points of traditional storage. Finally, there is a project seriously addressing the cost issue.

The cost monster of decentralized storage is finally about to be dealt with, and Walrus's move truly hits the pain point. The erase coding approach I saw someone researching two years ago is now being used by a project, this is what you call the trend of the times.

Erasing the cost reduction through encoding sounds good, but the key still lies in the governance design of the WAL token—another old approach of "token equals power." History has shown that this model ultimately leads to concentrated voting power and distorted incentives. Don't place too much hope on mechanism design.

The erasure coding system is really reliable and much cheaper than what I used before.

Wow, finally someone is seriously working on storage costs. Isn't this just another PPT project?

Erasure coding sounds good, reducing costs is indeed a pain point. Is WAL token reliable? It's both for payment and governance. Another storage project on Sui chain—everyone wants a piece of the pie here. With the storage track so competitive, can Walrus break through the encirclement?

The idea of erasure coding sounds good, but can it really be that much cheaper? I'm a bit skeptical.
