John Lee: Emphasize women's development and implement multiple measures to lay a solid foundation
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu today, when attending the fourth session of the “Courage and Strength for Women” Forum, stated that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government values women’s development and family building, and is actively implementing several new measures, including establishing a Women’s Self-Strength Fund, funding and supporting women-related projects, launching a Family Education Promotion Programme, and providing funding for family education initiatives; it also hosts the “Best Family in Hong Kong” election to promote good family values and home education, laying a solid foundation for women’s development and family building in Hong Kong.
John Lee Ka-chiu pointed out that the HKSAR government successfully held the second Hong Kong Family and Women Development Summit yesterday. The summit gathered leaders from the mainland and Hong Kong responsible for family and women’s policies, representatives of international organizations, and pioneers in relevant fields as guest speakers. Over 1,200 participants attended. The forum invited speakers from six countries and regions, as well as representatives from ten overseas women’s groups. Hundreds of outstanding female leaders gathered together, fully reflecting Hong Kong’s cohesion and influence in promoting women and family issues.
He emphasized that under “one country, two systems,” Hong Kong enjoys unique advantages of internal connectivity and external outreach. It will continue to serve as a bridge, promoting exchanges and cooperation between the country and the international community on women and family affairs, and making greater contributions on both the national and international stages.
