Shiba Inu Vs LUNC Burn: Which Is Better?
The growth of both Shiba Inu and LUNC tokens has been greatly hampered by their circulating supply. As a way to curb this, both communities have come up with a burn plan to reduce the supply of tokens as much as possible. So far, community members have sent a large number of tokens to the burn address. But which community's efforts have the greatest impact on the token price?
Since it began almost a year ago, the LUNC community burn has gained a lot of traction. Millions of tokens are withdrawn from circulation every week to reduce its supply of more than 5.8 trillion. To date, this has resulted in tens of billions of tokens being burned.
According to the website, the community has reached the milestone of 85 billion token burns. The community burned more than 1.7 billion tokens in a week, bringing the total number of tokens burned in history to approximately 85 billion.
Behind this milestone, the prices of LUNC and USTC have started to rise again, indicating that there is a correlation between burns and price performance. Not only are the Terra Classic ecosystem tokens on the rise, but so are the rebranded LUNA tokens. The LUNC burn program was strongly supported by an exchange, and the burn activity also expanded to USTC tokens, with thousands of tokens being burned every day.
Compared with LUNC burning, Shiba Inu community burning has a greater impact on the price. Unlike LUNC, around 45% of the total token supply has been burned. Much of this can be attributed to ETH Fang founder Vitalik Buterin, who received half of the SHIB token supply in 2021. Buterin ended up burning most of these tokens after donating some of them to the Covid Relief Fund.
However, the community has not relented in its efforts to reduce supply. Last week, the burn rate rose by more than 7.6 million in 24 hours, one of the most significant spikes. This increase in burning momentum continued into the new week, with Sunday's data showing that more than 152 million tokens were burned.
Shibburn's data shows that the figure of 152 million has increased the SHIB burn rate by another 2,875%, which has been at a high level since the start of the week. Most of the tokens that were burned came from a wallet that burned 107.6 million tokens in a single transaction.
However, unlike LUNC, the spike in the SHIB burn rate doesn't seem to have had much of an impact on the price, with the token trading close to breakeven over the same period.
