On June 2, U.S. President Trump said on May 30 that the U.S. would raise tariffs on imported steel and aluminum from the current 25% to 50% from early June. Regarding the decision of the United States, Ripert, chairman of the German Iron and Steel Federation, issued a written statement on June 1 local time, saying that this move by the United States has escalated the transatlantic trade conflict again and will bring great pressure to the European steel industry.
