Spokesperson John Babcock said in an email statement, “Canada made this decision after close consultation with the Canadian industry, provinces, and key partners, reflecting a strategic choice to maximize the long-term interests and prospects of negotiating a solution with the U.S.” He added, “Canada still firmly believes that the U.S. anti-dumping duties on softwood lumber are unfair, unreasonable, and not in accordance with U.S. law.”
