The attacker, after 6 months of planning, used a trusting relationship to steal the developers’ devices; there is already a class-action lawsuit advertisement targeting Drift circulating.

According to a message on the X platform, the initial investigation into the Drift hacker attack indicates that members of the project team had previously been approached in person by North Korean intermediaries at a cryptocurrency industry conference. The investigation also reveals that there was in-person contact between the attacker and the team members.

Gate News message, on April 4, according to monitoring by Onchain Lens, since the security incident involving Drift Protocol, wallet addresses associated with its team have transferred 56.25 million DRIFT tokens, worth about $2.44 million, to a certain CEX and Gate.

FTX/Alameda sold 6.94 million DRIFT tokens through Wintermute, raising about $320k. This liquidation took place after the Drift Protocol suffered a $285 million hack. The 8.33 million DRIFT tokens Alameda received from early investments have since seen their current value drop sharply, with the initial investment value falling significantly.

Drift on the X platform confirmed that it has obtained key information related to the exploit attack, and sent messages to the ETH wallets of the four stolen funds, saying it would like to talk. The attack caused at least $200 million in losses, and subsequent updates will be released after third-party attribution is completed.

As of April 3, DRIFT’s price is up 24.16%, now trading at $0.0561, with a market cap of approximately $32.62 million. Drift Protocol, as a decentralized exchange, has performed well in terms of security and liquidity, but trading has been restricted due to recent security incidents and risk management measures by South Korean exchanges, which has increased market volatility.

Project 0 Co-Founder MacBrennan posts an update, stating that the losses from the Drift vulnerability incident will be addressed by April 2, and the specific calculation method will be announced before resuming operations. Drift lenders will share losses proportionally, while non-lenders may face an impairment of up to approximately 2%. The loss assessment is based on the most conservative scenario; conditions may improve in the future.

Gate News message, on April 2, Wormhole posted on the X platform in response to the Drift Protocol attack incident. Wormhole said that user assets are not currently at risk, and the cross-chain bridge functionality can still be used normally. However, due to the built-in security mechanisms configured for Solana, some cross-chain transfers may experience delays. Wormhole’s core contributors have been in communication with the Solana ecosystem team and will continue to provide support as needed.
